Escea Industry Night

Back

In May this year we hosted the Escea Fireplaces Showcase in the Subi Rest showrooms, a fantastic evening with local architects, designers and builders, gathered for future-focused design conversation over drinks and canapés.

We were thrilled to welcome Nigel Bamford, founder and CEO of Escea Fireplaces, who shared insights on where the industry is headed, how Escea is pushing boundaries, and why fireplaces still have such a strong place in the homes we build today.

Nigel covered a lot of ground including the evolution of Escea, performance trends in wood, gas and electric, and the growing importance of aesthetics and efficiency working hand in hand.

Key Highlights from the Discussion

  • The origins of Escea: A company built on the belief that customers shouldn’t have to choose between beauty and performance.
  • Gas fireplace trends: Larger, multi-sided glass is on the rise.
  • Wood fire innovation: Airtight homes need airtight solutions. Escea’s latest wood models feature external air intake via twin-skin flues — crucial for modern builds.
  • Electric fireplaces: Holographic tech is making electric fires more realistic than ever, with big improvements coming in both visuals and heat output.
  • The future of energy: Hydrogen and landfill gas are already entering the mix in Australia’s natural gas supply — and Escea products are built to adapt.

“No matter what view of the future you have on energy, there’s always going to be fireplaces — because we build homes to be comfortable, and fireplaces make homes more comfortable.” – Nigel Bamford
